About Us

Established in 1947 as a humble rehabilitation centre for World War II Veterans, UTC Kichwamba is one of the oldest and most prestigious Technical College in East Africa. When it opened its doors to students who began studying Carpentry and Joinery and Boat Building.

In 1973 the Kichwamba Technical School was elevated to a Technical Institute and in 1983 it was finally given the status of a Technical College.

Uganda Technical College – Kichwamba is one of the five Technical Colleges in Uganda; it is found at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges in Kabarole District, located on 14 kilometres from Fort Portal town on the high way connecting to Bundibugyo District in Western Uganda.

Currently the College has a student population of 608; of which 12.2% (74) are female and 87.8% (534) are male.

The College implements a competence based training (CBT) curriculum that requires emphasis on practical skills and Industrial training. This has exposed our students to the world of work and employers have attested that the quality and calibre of graduates from the College has resulted into a niche of proudness and commitment to their work professionally
